Water Babies!

Skyler and Sydney LOVED their first boat ride.  They loved the water.  They loved the wind.  They loved the birds.  They loved their life jackets.  They loved the other boats.  They loved their boat!  They loved the good night’s sleep they got after a day of boating.  They were two very tired girls!

Crispy Pancakes

This isn’t a new recipe.  Just a funny little anecdote from our weekend at the lake.

Sunday morning was beautiful, and I hopped out of bed ready for a calm day with most of our major chores behind us.  The girls woke me up fairly early, and I took them downstairs to feed them and keep [...]

Be Nice!

I often find myself torn between surprise about how fast my girls learn, and the belief that they are too little to understand me all the time.  Every now and then something happens that makes me stop and think, “Hey!  They really are listening!”  For instance, two days ago, Skyler was pulling on Sydney’s diaper [...]

Cherina’s Texas Cake

I probably shouldn’t post a recipe on here when I’m not sure I even did it right, but I’m going to anyway.  If it turned out this good when I didn’t follow the right directions, just imagine the possibilities if I ever get them right!

I wanted to have a really good picture of the [...]

Tenkiller

Is there a better name for a lake?  I submit that there is not.

We spent the past weekend moving furniture, corralling two rambunctious babies, putting up pots and pans, and just enjoying the newness of the lake house.  I love new houses, before things have been moved in.  They look so big and wide [...]

Happiness Is…

For me, happiness is a clean house, my whole family home in the evening, a fun weekend ahead, and watching my babies go nuts over something new…

“One egg, fried, over-easy, please!”

“Hey, come on!  I ordered it over half an hour ago!”

“Pipe down, or you’ll get nothing and like it!”

“Umm…  I think you might actually have [...]

Joey

Today, Sydney said her first sentence.  It caught me by surprise and it was very cute.  She turned one palm up and said, “Where’s Joey?”

Then I handed her the book and she found the page where Joey resides.  All was right with the world.

Skyler has also said her first sentence, but I hesitate to post [...]

The Pony Whisperer

This was Sydney’s first time on a pony, (although she believed it was a “dog-dog”.)  She OWNED that tiny horse!  She patted him, waved at us, and then did a few bare-back tricks.  I think she thoroughly enjoyed all five dollars worth of the ride!

This was the aftermath of Skyler’s first time on a pony. [...]

Penguin’s Mini-Me

A few things about my husband, The Penguin.

He won’t quit putting Weird Al songs on my iPod.
He can tell you the year almost any TV show, movie, or song came out.  Even stuff from before he was born.
It’s nearly impossible to embarrass him by teasing him, but if he watches a movie where [...]

Copycat P.F. Chang’s Chicken

I used this recipe from Wasabimon, who is on my blogroll, but I changed some things when I adapted it to make 4 meals.  It freezes very well.  Although PF Chang’s serves it with lettuce for wraps, you can use it over lo mein or  rice, or just eat it plain if you want.

Copycat [...]
